Robin of Sherwood Coming Soon in Audio for 40th anniversary
From TV Robin to Audio Robin
The TV show Robin of Sherwood began in 1984 and lasted until 1986. It premiered as Robin Hood in the late 1990s on PBS in the United States. Now, 40 years later, the famous medieval legend who hung up his bow and cap will have an encore performance with three never-before-told stories in a two-disc set available for pre-order exclusively on AUK Direct.
Most of the original cast will return including — Judi Trott (Marion), Phillip Jackson (Abbot Hugo), James Coombe (Grendel) and Jon Culshaw (Will Scarlet). Freddie Fox will play the late Robert Addie’s role as Sir Guy of Gisburne.
The titles of the three new Robin of Sherwood stories are “The Huntress,” “Until a May Morning” and “Brothers in Qualms.” The first tells the tale of Robin Hood finding out his mentor is dead. The second deals with marrying Marion to the highest bidder. Lastly, the third focuses on the Sheriff of Nottingham as he’s locked away without knowing the reason. Each of the three stories take place during a specific series/season in the show’s lifetime.
The two-disc CD set will release on December 18.
